‘The Play That Goes Wrong.’

Recently, the VCE Theatre Studies class presented their interpretation of ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’, a comedy drama depicting a theatrical group who constantly put on plays that ultimately end in disaster.

To bring the script to life on stage the class rehearsed the play for approximately ten weeks and worked on two specific production areas. The students competently used comic timing for the jokes in the play, and the set pieces and props added to the theatrical effect.

This performance was the Outcome 1 assessment task for the subject, with the aim being that students act as a production team to produce a play in its entirety.

Congratulations to the class for their depiction of ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’.

Year 8 Theatre – Horror/Thriller Unit

This semester in Theatre students have been writing thriller/horror scripts and experimenting with SFX make-up. This unit of work prepares students for Theatre Studies by allowing them to create cuts, bruises and scars.

The students will then use these skills when filming horror/thriller scripts during class which will culminate in the final unit of work at the end of term.

Students have enjoyed experimenting with nose and scar wax, latex and makeup to create realistic scars and bruises.

Year 7 Theatre – Puppetry Unit

In Year 7 Theatre, as part of their puppetry unit, students had the opportunity of working with puppets made by Ms Close. Students were excited to work with the puppets and learn how to maneuverer them. Students worked hard to make the puppet’s actions, head movements and expressions seem as life like as possible.

Students workshopped using the puppets, synchronising their voices with hands to create a believable performance. Students then created a script which they rehearsed over two lessons before performing their scenarios in front of the class.

The students presented some wonderful performances and were a delight to watch.
