Cross country

On a sunny May day a team of 45 students represented SOC at the Monash Division Cross Country event at Norton's Park, Wantirna.

SOC students performed well on the day and it was pleasing to see the students supporting each other at every step of the course. SOC came overall third in our division with 26 of our students qualifying for the next round at the Eastern Metropolitan Regional (EMR) event on June 18.

The following students have qualified for the upcoming EMR event and on behalf of the SOC community wish them the best of luck:

Year 7/8 Soccer

Recently we went to Monash University to represent South Oakleigh College in the interschool year 7/8 soccer competition. It was a fun day, even though we got rained on for all four games.

We took home two wins with one loss and one tight draw.

The experience was phenomenal with one game ending up 13-0, with the goal keeper getting to score two great goals himself!

Overall, it was an amazing day and hopefully next year we get the same opportunity.

Year 7/8 Interschool AFL Football

Congratulations to the Year 7/ 8 Boys AFL football team. The team suffered through a wet, cold, windy and slippery day. South Oakleigh played three games against some strong opponents and although we didn’t win, everyone played their best in the challenging conditions.

Our team was also congratulated by the umpires for keeping their cool and showing great sportsmanship.  Well done boys!

I’d like to thank Mr O’Toole for training and coaching the team.

Year 7/8 Badminton

On 12 June I had the pleasure of taking Year 7/8 students to compete in the interschool badminton competition against Wheelers Hill , Brentwood and Wellington Secondary Colleges.

The Year 7 boys team came second, and Year 8 girls and boys teams came third.

Our students showed great sportsmanship, working well within their teams throughout the day.

Well done to all enthusiastic badminton payers!

Year 10 Alternate Sport Program

All Year 10 students undertake an alternate sport program in which they participate in a variety of sporting activities to develop health and fitness. The program is enhanced using specialist external providers. Students participate in excursions to different health, fitness and sporting facilities.  This program promotes neighbourhood links and connects students with their wider community.

This term students have participated in the following sessions:

We are all excited for the new session schedule to be unveiled in Term 3!
