LENT - 2B

This week in worship we celebrated an important time in the calendar, Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of the season of Lent.  In class, we discussed what this time means for Christians.

Lent is a time of reflection on the passion of Jesus; 40 days in which we reflect on the hugeness of what Jesus did for us. As a class we discovered the number 40 is very important in the Bible and comes up in a lot of different stories such as Noah and the Ark. Lent is a time where we pray to come closer to Jesus and prepare ourselves to celebrate the grace of our forgiveness, and the gift of our salvation.

As a class we brainstormed some ways we could celebrate Lent without the traditional fasting. We came up with:

  • Give up meat for one day a week
  • Give up technology
  • Donate clothes to charity
  • Donate money to charity
  • Pray every day
  • Do something nice for someone every day

4/5 EXCURSION

The 4/5 Budgies had a class excursion to the Waste Management Facility on Wednesday 22 February. This was part of their information gathering phase of their Christian Studies inquiry into being stewards of the earth. They were finding out what their community already does to take care of Earth through recycling and minimising landfill.

Congratulations to the following students from Living Waters selected in the Cricket Central Region team and who will compete in the NT Inter Region Championship.

Congratulations to the Animal Shelter fundraising colouring in competition winners Alisha Shaiju, Emily Weippert and Ethan Kincaid (absent).

The Living Waters Junior Choir had their first performance at assembly today. They all sang beautifully!
