Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday our 2B students led us through a special Ash Wednesday Worship. This day marked the beginning of Lent, the 40-day period leading up to Easter. This is a special time of prayer and reflection in which we apologise to God for where we’ve gone wrong, and reflect on what Jesus has done for us. During Lent, many people choose to fast, or give up something of importance. This reminds us of Jesus fasting for 40 days in the wilderness after he was baptised. 

As part of their Worship, 2B shared this Ash Wednesday prayer with us:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Bless us as we enter into these 40 days of Lent. 

Help us to become closer to Jesus through our prayer, sacrifices, and giving.

May we remember Jesus’ great love for us as He suffered and died, so that our sins may be forgiven.

Prepare our hearts to rejoice in Christ’s resurrection this Easter.

In His name, we pray.
