Years 10 to 12

Year 10 Work Experience

Hello Parent/Carer and Year 10 Students,

This is a friendly reminder that work experience this year will take place:

Monday 19th - Friday 23rd June 2023

In order to secure work experience you must complete the following and return to myself:

  • Planning Sheet, Additional arrangement form (found on the last page) of the Work Experience Handbook
  • SAFE@WORK Module (GENERAL and an INDUSTRY SPECIFIC)

It is imperative that you start researching and looking for viable work experience locations as soon as possible. If you are finding this difficult please contact either the Careers Teams or Myself for assistance in the senior office or email workexperience@gisbornesc.vic.edu.au

This will be one of the best possible experiences you can have in the area that you are most passionate in.

Thanks

Senior School Report

Year 10

Classes are well and truly on their way now and the students are getting used to life in Senior School. Whilst it is a gear shift for these young people, it is encouraging to see them familiarising themselves with their teachers and sub school staff.

Year 11

Both the VCE and VCE-VM cohorts are progressing with rapid speed through their first outcomes for Unit 1. The VCE students are engaging in SAC’s and finishing up their first Outcome for Unit 1, whilst the VM students are all now engaging with their employers on Work Placement days and experiencing TAFE or VET studies. Semester one really sets the tone for these students which can come as quite a shock at first. Can parents and guardians make an effort to check in with their young people to see how they’re tracking and let Senior School know if you have any concerns.

Year 12

This group of students have really hit the ground running! The Study Centre has been a buzz with productivity, and it has been a delight to see and hear dynamic conversations between students and staff around their studies and future endeavours. Just like the Year 11 students, this time can be exhausting for them and the pressure of SAC’s can be unnerving. Take the time to check in with them, ask about school and reassure them that they have support at home and at school.

Apollo23 Camp flashback

Here are some photo’s from the Year 12 Apollo23 Camp. Evidence that this camp was not only rewarding but also fun! Thanks again to the Student Leadership Team for all your work!
