In memoriam

I would like to take this opportunity to inform the College community of Ian Bennett's passing and honour his significant contributions to Gisborne Secondary over many years.

Ian was a long-serving teacher of the College during the 1980s and 1990s and in addition was the Coordinator of the Science Faculty during his tenure.  He was involved in establishing the school in its initial iteration as a technical school in 1981.  Ian's contributions to the college were such that one of the College Houses, which are integral to College traditions through sporting and other activities, is named in his honour, 'Bennett house'.

Ian was also a contributor to the local community, through his involvement with the local CFA and as a local councillor with the Gisborne Shire.

Ian was farewelled at a funeral service in Gembrook last Friday morning.
