Science
It's been a busy start to the Year for our students in Science. Take a look at all the great experiences they've had so far!
Year 7's had an exciting time being introduced to the Bunsen burner and learning how to safely use it to conduct science experiments; a skill that will be carried with them through their high school careers and a memory that will last a lifetime!
Year 8's put their problem solving abilities and creativity to the test using Brain Boxes to create and observe the transformation of energy in different electrical circuits.
Year 9's had a wonderful time getting out of school and heading to Ecolinc in Bacchus Marsh where they conducted a study to test for the presence of Platypus in the Werribee River. We're currently waiting for our DNA test results to come back!
Year 10's studying Life Sciences undertook an investigation to determine the factors that effect respiration in yeast. Yeast are used in the production of beer because a fun product of their respiration is ethanol!
Year 11 Biology students got in touch with their inner child by playing with bubbles; but all for a good reason! Bubbles are used to model the functions of the plasma membrane of cells. This practical is a fun way to help students visualise cells.
