College Principal Report

Start to the year

I would like to begin by welcoming all our students and their families to the 2023 school year. A special welcome to our Year 7 students and any other students who are new to the school. The school year has started off very smoothly but also very busy.

The staff welcomed two Curriculum Days prior to the students returning which gave an opportunity for setting strategic direction, professional learning, collaboration and planning.

Our priorities for students in 2023 will continue to be focussed on both their Learning and their Wellbeing

  • Learning - Support both those who need scaffolding and those who have thrived to continue to extend their learning, especially in numeracy
  • Wellbeing - Effectively mobilise available resources to support students' wellbeing and mental health, especially the most vulnerable

Staffing changes:

With our student numbers continuing to grow, some staff exits at the end of 2022 and the change in the Victorian Government Schools Agreement in 2022 resulting in a reduction of face to face teaching for all staff- we have recruited many new and exciting staff members. We welcome them to our school community.

Our Term One Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews will be held on Tuesday 4th April. More details to follow through Compass

Year 7 Meet and Greet

On Thursday 2nd March our Banksia Year 7 ‘Meet and Greet’ was held where the parents of our students (plus of course the students themselves) were invited to come to the school between 6:00pm and 7:00pm to meet the teachers of Year 7. The Acacia 'Meet and Greet' will be held on Thursday 9th March and all parents and students are encouraged to attend

New uniform item

In response to request from students for a warmer, weather-proof jacket we have worked with a group of students and parents to design a new jacket for students to wear in the winter months. Examples of the new item can be viewed in the foyer on each campus and details around ordering will be sent out through Compass very soon.
