Last Friday evening students went to Eaton Fair Shopping centre for some leisure time and restocking of supplies.
Saturday Mr Rice took around half of the students to Perth to AQWA in Hillarys. All students reported that it was a great outing and enjoyed the day immensely. Saturday evening students enjoyed the big screen in the gym watching Cars.
Sunday Morning 15 students went to the Cinema in Bunbury to watch the new Avatar movie, before returning to site and socialising some more.
Early Return
This week we had several students return to site early, some as much as 4 or 5 hours. Can I ask that if your son/daughter is returning that early that you please contact the Residential staff on duty as a courtesy, as some times this directly impacts upon catering, as well as the ability of staff to look after the students onsite.
Monday night basketball saw mixed results. With some wins, a few losses and a draw, but there were some very interesting matches held.
Wednesday evening, we ran a practice fire drill here in residential time. Staff and students were unaware that it was going to take place. I was pleased with the co-operation in general, but there is room for improvement in the timeliness of some of the lining up and checking off. I am sure we will learn from it and with practice will be far swifter.
Vandalism
Unfortunately, this week we have experienced some deliberate acts of vandalism to College property. Minor on the scale of things, but nevertheless damage to College property. Some students have decided that it is ok to bend and twist cutlery, even then discarding the forks, spoons and knives in the bins, garden beds and lawn area. As you would be aware we cater for nearly 200 students and staff daily at lunchtime and this becomes an expensive replacement cost that could easily be avoided.
We have also had two expensive, allegedly indestructible table tennis bats destroyed in the games room. This is very disappointing for staff and the other students who are then disadvantaged as the equipment is not available for use. Can I ask that you speak with your child and support us in looking after the College property.
Busselton Camp
This weekend the College is off down to Busselton for the camp. This is an excellent opportunity for students and staff to enjoy a new setting and scenery in a more casual environment. We invited both day and boarding students to attend and we have had excellent support. I must thank Mrs Heidi Armstrong for her organisation and overall planning of the weekend, along with many other staff. I am sure it will be a great weekend.
Just a final reminder that staff will not be available to take duty of care of students returning to site on Sunday 19th Feb. until after 3.30pm, when they will have returned from camp, unpacked vehicles, washed all the vehicles and be ready to receive other returning students to the Residence.
