Out and about on Farm

Year 10 Animal Production Systems classes visited the College Beef Hub during class this week. Over the coming weeks students will be visiting different sections of the Farm to develop their understanding of our animal enterprises. This will enable them to link what they are learning in class to what happens on the Farm.

Year 11 Plant Production Systems visit to Horticulture

Thursday’s class had the opportunity to commence their ongoing Produce for Purpose task. This week’s activity was to plant their bean seeds. Over coming weeks students will visit their plots to maintain their plants and to monitor their growth and productivity.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday, two Year 11 General Plant Production Systems classes had to have their planned visit to Horticulture cancelled as most students had forgotten to bring their hats to class. The Year 11 students will need their broad brimmed hat every Plants lesson this term. Hopefully these two classes will undertake the bean planting during next weeks lesson.

Broad brimmed hats required

It is the College policy that students are required to wear broad brimmed hats when they are out of the classroom during Term One and Term Four. I would encourage all students to bring a broad brimmed hat (their College bucket hat is ideal) every class day so they are prepared and are able to take their learning beyond the classroom whenever this is possible.

Textbooks

Thank you to parents who have organised the purchase of the required textbooks. In class we keep the books you are required to purchase through your booklist to an absolute minimum. If you haven’t already organised the purchase of your child’s textbook, please do so immediately as they are already using them.

Year 10 students have a textbook for English and Year 11 and 12 have a textbook in Mathematics. If you need the details of the required textbook, please contact your child’s teacher, or email me and we will assist you.

Please feel free to contact me at the College on 9782 2100 or via email tania.pfitzner@education.wa.edu.au  with any queries or concerns in regards to your child’s progress within the class area.
