I think I spoke too soon in terms of students adapting to not having their mobile phones at school with quite a number confiscated this week. Once again, I would ask parents to reinforce with your young people our stance on the use of mobile phones at school and support us if we have to apply sanctions to your child when they choose to ignore our expectations.

Prospective Students

Next week we will start our interviewing of prospective students for 2024. We will interview each week through to the middle of Term 3 and likely to cover over 150 interviews for around 70 places. Offers will be made in three phases

  • Week 2,  Term 2.
  • Week 2,  Term 3.
  • Week 7,  Term 3.

These dates will align to offers made by the other Agricultural Colleges.

Places will be highly competitive again and our aim is for all our places to be filled by the third round of offers. This means that if any of our College community has young people wishing to apply, they need to do so early enough to be included in the interview process.

Applications received after the last round of offers are unlikely to be allocated an interview. We will be reverting back to face to face interviews and a tour of the College for prospective families and students on the day.

Elders

I had a meeting on Wednesday with representatives from Elders who are very supportive of the College and have a sequence of engagement activities that articulate to careers within their organisation. I will share details of these opportunities for Year 12s as they are finalised.

Year 10 Board Representative

My thanks to those parents who have expressed an interest in joining the College Board. I will leave expressions of interest open until Monday next week and then arrange a ballot among the families of Year 10s.

New families to the College Survey

My thanks to those parents who have already completed the survey.  As of mid this week I have 25 fully complete responses which means that we have around 33% of potential families which is not a large percentage. I will close off the survey next Monday 20 February and collate the responses. I hope parents of Year 10s and new Year 11s will take the time to give us their view.

Regards to all and have a great weekend
