School Council

Your school council got together on Monday last week. As this was the final meeting of the 2022 school council, I would personally like to thank each member of the team for their time and hard work through what was another enjoyable and productive year.

Next month we will start fresh and form the 2023 school council. As always there are some opportunities for new people to get involved in the running of our wonderful school. Messages have gone out in the past few weeks calling for nominations and if you have ever thought about serving on council, I highly recommend you take the opportunity to nominate yourself, or even just ask some questions if you are unsure.

As always at council meetings it was wonderful to hear about the hard work and exciting activities going on around the school!

We heard from our sub-committees about plans for upcoming working bees, finance and other school policies that have been reviewed to ensure they are up-to-date, fun events the PFA have in store for us, and ways to engage the school and wider community in the coming year.

We spent some time hearing about the progress that has been made on our building works. It sounds like they are coming along extremely well and are even a little ahead of schedule. It will be so exciting to see new sections of the school unveiled in the coming months!

We also heard about the amazing start our students have had to the year. The staff and teachers always do a wonderful job getting the kids settled and engaged. We are also fortunate to have a new Wellbeing Officer Eddy, who is settling in well. This role continues to be incredibly important to support our students and families and we wish him all the best. As this position is one of the many wonderful items Weeden provides that is not funded by the Government, a big thank you to all the parents who have supported this program. Please stop and have a chat to Eddy anytime you need some assistance, or just to say hi and let him know how much we appreciate the important work he does.

A few final thoughts for this month: Spread the word that Nokuna and School Stream are essential reading for parents, to keep up with the latest at Weeden Heights; get involved in the fun and community spirit this year whether it be PFA events, working bees or our Open Night; and please consider nominating for school council!

Take care of yourselves and stay safe everyone.
