YEAR 3 - 6 News
Year 4/5A
4/5A have been busy learning about themselves, their family, their community and their culture. Students have dived deep into their past memories and created Autobiographies sharing precious moments about themselves. More specifically, we looked closely at family, friends, three specific memories, hobbies and goals for their future. Students used pages in their Autobiographies to describe these subheadings and included pictures and drawings. The 4/5A students shared their finished products at assembly, and with 3/4A during a Literacy session gaining feedback from their peers. All work was completed to a high standard and students should be very proud of their success!
Cooking Program
We are trialling a small group cooking program run by Student Support Services (SSS) Social Worker Pascale Oates alongside Natalie one of our Educational Support Workers in Term 1 2023.
This small group will be run weekly on a Monday during Lunchtime (1pm till 2pm) for the remainder of Term 1, 2023.
The group will focus on the skill of cooking, incorporating social connection and social skills between participants, enhancing literacy with understanding and reading recipe’s and following sequenced steps alongside costing and budgeting.
The first session was last Monday and the children involved loved every minute of their cooking experience.
We are extremely grateful to Pascale, Fiona and Natalie for helping with these sessions. Also a big shout out to Elaina for helping us source the groceries.

This week during numeracy sessions the students have been practicing rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, or 1000.
You can play at home:
In pairs, one person rolls 2, 3 or 4 dice to generate a number for his/her partner to record.
That person then rounds the number to its nearest 10, 100 or 1000.
Play at home and record on the game board.
Number created | Round to nearest 10 | Round to nearest 100 | Round to nearest 1000 |
Challenge: create a decimal number with the dice and round to the nearest 1.
