The Reading Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by September 2022.

Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents (20 books are to be from the Challenge list and 10 are own choice books)

Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books. (10 books are to be from the Challenge list and 5 are own choice books)

When children have completed books Parents/students log books on to the Challenge site using a username and password.  (Older students may be able to log their own books on)

Teachers have distributed login details.

Many Reading Challenge books are in the library.  Books at home are often on the Challenge list and local libraries support the Reading Challenge. Challenge books in the school library and local library have special stickers on their spine.
