Remembering St. Mary of the Cross

In 1/2 UR the students learnt about the story of Saint Mary Mackillop as we celebrated her feast day this week.  After attending the morning assembly, the students had many wonderings about Mary and her life. The students listened to a story about Mary as a young girl as well as the role she played later in life as a nun who co-founded the sisters of St. Josephs of the Sacred Heart. 

After having some time to discuss her story, the students discussed the important actions that Mary did throughout her life, like helping the poor and teaching children to learn at school. Students created a special pendent in her memory for our class prayer table. It will be kept there as a way to remember her good deeds and as a reminder for everyone to follow her example.
