Colour Explosion Carnival

By Mr Donders - Year 9 Level Leader

and Year 9 & 12 students

On Friday the 24th of June we held our inaugural colour explosion carnival, to celebrate our first semester of learning. Our Colour Explosion Festival was a massive success! A huge thank you to every college member who stepped in and got involved. We can all agree that the hard work and effort was worth it and that our students had an experience like no other that we have offered at Cranbourne Secondary College.

Some reflections by our students:

Marvellous Memories by Sukhjot Kaur  - Year 9

Life is full of memories, events, moments and experiences. The last day of Semester 1, was a day that was really joyful and memorable for me. The colour run day was for students to celebrate their achievements throughout Terms 1 and 2. On that wonderful day, the school arranged heaps of different activities such as bungee jumping, bubble soccer, photography, pizza making, laser run and more. Everyone was so excited to be there and ready to take part in those fantabulous activities.

I took part in a few of those amazing activities which were pizza making, bungee jumping, laser run, bubble soccer and sumo wrestling. The activity that I loved the most was bungee jumping. It was my first ever time doing it and it was probably the best moment. I had so much fun doing it, for a moment I felt like I was flying in the air. I made pizza for myself which was actually really good and made me feel full because I was so hungry.

After a few activities, it was time for the colour run, the part that I was awaiting from the early morning. It was probably the most anticipated and exciting moment. The speaker called out our year level and just at the next moment we started running for the colour run. All of us were doused from head to toe in different coloured powder. It was so much fun, definitely something to do with a bunch of friends. Volunteers were placed throughout the course to keep spirits high and spread excitement. It was a really precious and memorable day for me that happened in the celebration of Semester 1. I will never forget this outstanding day in my life.

Last Day of Term by Mia Lodge  - Year 9

What better way to end the term off than with a carnival colour fun run! The day started with a range of activities in our form groups. This then was followed by a whole school assembly in our new school stadium! The assembly consisted of some highlights of this term and much more. From when the assembly had finished the time was our own to enjoy the carnival around the school which included inflatables, pizza making, bubble soccer, a photo booth and so much more. One of my favourite activities was the photo booth as we were able to wear some crazy headwear pieces and pose for photos with friends. From around 1 o’clock onwards the colour fun run was set and underway.

The course of the colour run started near V block going straight around LC block with teachers and students spraying anyone running, creating a really cool effect for people wearing white. This course then went around and through the middle school courtyard, through the canteen area and out with a lap around the oval. Overall it was really cool to see most people getting involved in the fun.

An Interesting Last Day by Zohal Joya  - Year 9

The last day of Term 2 was interesting, to say the least. Although in primary school we had fairs and the Colour Run, this was the first time I would be actually taking part in the run. The entire day was amazing, even before the assembly my class was able to have some fun with Just Dance. The assembly allowed me to see the new stadium fully and listen to how much our school had achieved in just the first semester.

Then the carnival portion of the day began. There were so many different options, I didn’t even know where to start. Though my group of friends finally figured out what we should do first and we had a blast on the inflatables. Even though the wait for making pizzas was a bit long, I was so happy that I decided to wait as that pizza was just what I needed to get through the rest of the day. I listened to the live music for a bit before getting a couple of photos taken. Then it was time for the Colour Run. I changed into my white shirt and soon enough, it was time for the Year Nines to run and off we went.

Colour rained down and I was surprised when the colour was in a liquid form, I had only seen it in the powder version. Covered in colour, I went for a second time. It had gotten everywhere! The day as a whole was exciting and I’d be over the moon if it happened again at the end of the year!

A Fabulous Last Day by Zach Holmes  - Year 9

The last day of school was probably the best day by far, especially with all the lockdowns we’ve had for the past two years. There were many fun activities to do, like the Petting Zoo, Photo Booth, Mechanical Bull, and the Inflatables Course (which was my favourite), and it was awesome just to have a day to hang out with my friends and have lots of fun. The colour run was the best part of the day, with everyone just getting super messy and having a blast. The Colour Explosion Carnival (in my opinion) was the best event held at our school this year, and I can’t wait to see what else they have planned for the future.

Colour Explosion Carnival by Zara Armistead - Year 9

On the last day of Term 2, we had the Colour Explosion Carnival, which was by far the best event held at our school. Many fun activities were held like Sumo Wrestling, Pizza Making, Laser Tag and so much more! At the end of the day, there was the Colour Run (which I believe was the best part of the day). Students ran around the course while the teachers threw colour on the students. Overall, this day was awesome and I hope we have more events like this in the future.

By Cody Smith  - Year 12

On the 24th of June our last day of term 2 we held the first ever colour festival and within that, we held our very first assembly in our new stadium, it was a fantastic way to start the day. It was such an honour to be able to be one of the first presenters in the new stadium and I was very impressed with everybody’s behaviour and how they respected the stadium, both entering and exiting.

By Leanne Heng  - Year 12

On the last day of term 2, our school held the Colour Run Carnival. I thoroughly enjoyed the day! It was entertaining and I was amazed at how many students were also having fun and participating in the various activities that were available. Personally, my favourite activity was the pizza making because I got to eat; Ms Bloetz and Mr Stops really pulled it off! I also really loved that we had a photo booth, I was able to get a couple of cute pictures with my sister. Overall it was a lovely last day and I hope our school continues to hold the Colour Run Carnival.
