Catholic Day and Staff Development Day

This week all staff and students will have a Catholic Day, adding Friday to our weekend for a very welcome mid-term break.  On Monday all staff will be engaged in a staff development day.  In short, staff will enjoy a three-day weekend and students a four day weekend.

Edmund Rice Day and India Fun Run

Early this week a communication email was sent regarding our annual Edmund Rice Day celebrations will take place on Friday, 19 August.  Please send your cake stall items into the library on the day.  The cake stall is always a favourite with all the boys in the College.

The Junior School boys have been busy seeking sponsorship for the fun run that will take place after recess.  Boys are asked to wear sport’s uniform on the day and bring a gold coin donation.  They are also reminded to bring money to purchase lunch, treats and participate in the many games and activities that will raise funds for the India orphanages supported by the college.  The whole College will finish at 2.30pm on the day. Bus times have been adjusted accordingly. Please refer to the events section for more information.

Catholic Performing Arts Festival

This week has been a big week for many of our boys performing in the Catholic Performing Arts Festival in either individual performances or ensembles. JVE boys also presented two items at our Junior School Open Morning on Wednesday.  They are such great ambassadors for our Music program and for Trinity College Junior School.  Next week the JVE perform in the Choral Liturgical section of CPAF and our Junior School Concert band will also be performing that week. We wish both groups all the best.

Angelico Art Exhibition

A huge congratulations to Matteo Redolatti from Year 6 for being nominated as an award winner at the Angelico Art Exhibition.  As mentioned last week a number of our boys have individual or group entries in the Angelico Art Exhibition.  The student works are on display and include a group submission  from Year 6 students:  Joel Murabito, Joshua MacDonald, Zachery Yau, Jobe Hegarty, Jacob Tran and Curtis Ieraci along with individual entries by Year 6 students: Michael Borman, Matteo Redolatti, Levi Casson and Ben Howard.  Year 5 students: Mason Bowman and Anton Nikoloski and Year 4 student William Tyson. The exhibition runs until Friday, 26 August.

Year 5/6 Winter Sports Carnival

Thanks Mr Thompson for organising a great in-house Winter Sports Carnival for today.  These events are always well attended by parents and a great opportunity for our boys to engage in house competitions.

Hats

When the boys return from their four-day weekend and the UV index begins to climb again we will return to our no school hat no play policy.  Please remind your sons that they need to wear a school hat during play at recess and lunch.  I would like to take this opportunity to ask parents to ensure that hats and all school uniform items are clearly labelled.

Lost Property

There is quite an accumulation of unclaimed and unnamed uniform items in the Junior School library.  Please take a moment to check this collection.  Next week we will send the unclaimed items over to the lost property at Student Services.  We always do our best to return uniform items to their owners, however this is not possible if items are not labelled.

Year 4 Rugby Carnival

On Thursday, 18 August the Year 4 boys will participate in a Rugby Carnival held at Aquinas. These carnivals allow the Year 4s to experience each of the regular Year 5 & 6 winter and summer sports which assist them in making their choices for next year.

Parent Liaison

Our Term 3 Parent Liaison meeting will take place in the College Boardroom at 2.30pm on Wednesday, 17 August.  All parents are welcome.

Book Week

Book Week is coming up in Week 6 and the Junior School library is taking on a new look.  Thanks to Mrs Spencer for making our library space so vibrant and inviting.  The theme of Book Week this year is ‘Dreaming With Eyes Open’.

All boys are invited to use this theme as an inspiration for their dress-up for an assembly-parade. I know there will be some creative and exciting costumes.  More information will be available next week.

Don't forget to order your daffodils!

All orders must be placed by Friday, 19 August using the link below. No late orders will be accepted.

Collection of flowers will be on 'Daffodil Day', Thursday 26 August from the Junior School.

Prefects Corner

By Max S (6B)

This week there has been a few exciting things happening at TC.  On Wednesday Prefects, Captains, and other chosen people did some Open Day tours after practicing for about one week. Open Day tours are where you show future parents/children around and persuade them to go to this school.

There is a Winter Sports Carnival happening with the year 5s and 6s today. Each faction will be split up into two groups, A and B. The factions will play each other and the faction that wins the most, wins.
