World's Greatest Shave - $8,000 to go!!

Friday, 19 August marks the day in which 13 brave Year 12 students along with a handful of teachers, including all Head of Years, will be sacrificing their luscious locks to the Leukaemia Foundations World’s Greatest Shave. With a goal of $30,000, the boys are looking to do everything they can to assist this great foundation.

With only 8 days left and a little of $8000 left until our goal, then end is in sight. I’m reaching out again for your help in reaching our goal.

I not only ask for donations from you, but we are looking for hairdressers and barbers in our TC community who are willing and able to come in to shave our heads. Time and date of the shave is Friday 19 August at 10.30am and 12.45pm. If you can do this for us, that will be greatly appreciated. Please reach out to me regarding this using my email down below.

Thanks to everyone that has donated already! All this would not be possible without you!

India Fun Run

Friday, 19 August

Every year we renew our commitment to providing food, shelter, health care and education for some of the poorest people of India. Our major fundraiser for this work is the India Fun Run.

All students are participants in the Trinity College Fun Run for India and expected to contribute to support projects in India.

Donations of $30 or more are requested. Students should collect sponsors for the Fun Run so they make a contribution to this Fun Run through their own efforts. Sponsorship Forms are available from PCG teachers.

All money raised should then be paid through the online store. Please make payment before or on the day of Fun Run via the button below

All money raised goes to support people who are most in need through projects we have been supporting for over 30 years; MITHRA school and home for children with disabilities, JAGRUTI HIGH SCHOOL educating children from outcast tribal families, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS charitable work with the poor of Kolkata including specific outreach to homeless people in Kolkata train stations.

Thank you for your generosity in supporting India Fun Run 2022.

Prefect Perspectives

Another eventful week in the books. Year 12 boys are knuckling down with their studies as we rapidly approach exams in Week 9.

Most of TC is business as usual however, with a few interruptions and events throughout the week, such as performing arts, with many tireless efforts from music students and staff in preparation for performances. The road to keep the Zenith Clock at TC is well underway.

Unfortunately our Prefect group suffered a devastating two point netball loss on Friday to a well drilled Mercedes outfit. The boys put up a good fight, but the girls proved too much to handle. The lack of training and knowledge of the rules (despite some PE studies boys being self-proclaimed netball experts) also largely contributed to our downfall. Back to the drawing board we go in preparation for a big rematch on our home turf in Week 7.

Winter sport is just about wrap up, with non-first teams playing their last fixture against Hale this past weekend. First teams are preparing for their final fixture for the year, a challenging match against Scotch next Thursday. Winter sport has been filled with many ups and downs this year, but I know that all of the boys have thoroughly enjoyed playing alongside their brothers, and Year 12 boys have made some great memories that they will cherish for years to come. The future of TC sport is looking very bright.

Athletics season has begun, with our first-ever TC Carnival being held on Wednesday. This was a great opportunity for all the boys who nominated to display their talent in their respective events and establish their position in the team. We were blessed with some beautiful weather despite the recent wet and gloomy conditions. It was an enjoyable day out for the boys and proved to be a great success, with great numbers and some outstanding performances. Training begins next week, hopefully we can keep up the strength in numbers and make the most of the four week lead up to the big day, and hopefully in those four weeks Cristian Tot can learn the correct words to the chants!

Next Friday we have Edmund Rice Day and the India Fun Run. It’s been a long time coming and I'm sure the boys are going to enjoy what is always an exciting day. It is also an opportunity to appreciate Edmund Rice, who we all know dedicated his life to being a man for others, and is very important to the Christian Brothers and the TC community.

The World’s Greatest Shave is also happening next Friday and the boys are very keen. I encourage everyone to donate what they can and get around the boys who are shaving their hair for a worthy cause. Well done to everyone who signed up and donated, let’s keep smashing those targets!

We are lucky enough to have a long weekend after what has been a hectic first four weeks of Term 3. I hope everyone has a safe and restful weekend, and the boys return on Tuesday ready to make the most of the weeks to come.
