Book Week 2022 - 22nd to 26th August

Dear Sunny Heights Parents and Carers,

We have some exciting times coming up in the next few weeks at school. One of these is book week, which will be our first Book Week in two years on the school grounds! The Theme is "Dreaming with my eyes open". During the week we have lots of exciting events, activities and ways you can join in with us.

Monday of Book Week will provide us the chance to speak with students about their favourite books, and explore these passions in class.

Tuesday of Book Week will be a curriculum day and is pupil free. Bookings can be made through Big Childcare if you need supervision for your children. This is a great day for your kids to spend some quality time reading at home or heading to your local library!

Wednesday of Book week is dress up day! Students (and parents) can dress up as their favourite book or book character, and in the afternoon we will have a parade to show these off. Prizes are available for the best Prep, Grade 1-2, Grade 3-4 or Grade 5-6 student costume, and the best parent and staff member.

Thursday of Book week we have a Digeridoo performance from Didgeridoo Australia, and students and teachers will be looking at Koorie and dreamtime stories.

Friday of Book Week we have The Younger Sun Bookstore in the Spanish Casa before school until 9:30am, where you can buy a book for your child from the latest titles for all ages. You can also get a free coffee from Dimitri, the coffee van guy from 8:15am in the morning while you are browsing the books. Students can get a free hot chocolate from Breakfast Club. This is also Wear it Purple Day (more details to follow) and the students will be looking at stories and books that explore diversity, culture, acceptance and equality, that will allow our young people to embrace their identities, and keep dreaming with their eyes open!

Best wishes,

David and the Sunny Heights Team
