Year 8 Poetry Incursion – Poetry in Action

Last week, Year 8 students begun their poetry unit in English with an incursion from Poetry In Action. The actors took our students on a journey of the ‘United Nations of Poetry’, exposing them to all kinds of poetry, from well-known English love poems to reflective Japanese haikus, all the way to poetry from war-torn countries and lyrics from some of our most well-known songs. Year 8 students left the incursion with a deeper understanding of what constitutes poetry, as well as the power of the written word, and maybe even felt a bit inspired to write their own poems in class!

Year 7 Drama Production event

On the final day of term 2, all Year 7’s were invited to watch the Year 7 drama classes end of semester performances. The students show cased their brilliant skills to their peers and teachers. All students did extremely well and showed excellent perserverance and resilience during their performances. Thank you to all of the students who ‘filled in’ last minute for the performances.
