Autism Awareness Month

Yesterday several teachers, including myself went to see Sue Larkey about teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) successfully . Her website www.suelarkey.com 

and the attached sheet are worth a look to gain some tips for understanding ASD. 

Lockleys North Festival Choir

With its genesis in 1891 as the Thousand Voice Choir, The Festival of Music has been a long term part of South Australian life and now stands as an official State icon. As part of the Festival, Year 5-7 students from across South Australia perform a set repertoire of music in Adelaide's Festival Theatre. This year the repertoire includes Michael Jackson's Ease on Down the Road, Gloria Estefan's Turn the Beat Around, the traditional song Ngarra Burra Ferra, made famous by the movie The Sapphires as well as a commissioned work by composer Paul Jarman about Flight. 

The Lockleys North Festival Choir has 30 members in 2014 who meet each Tuesday afternoon. In addition to our choral members students can be involved in the Festival of Music as soloists, troupe members (dance), assisting artists and comperes. Our school has a long, successful history of involvement in the Festival Choir, with successive groups achieving front row positions as well as many individual roles of honour including comperes, troupe members and soloists. 

2014 IMPORTANT DATES: 

19th - 26th August - Magic Millions rehearsal

9th - 19th September - Festival of Music rehearsal and performance at Festival Theatre

Early August - tickets go on sale for our Festival Theatre performance. These can be ordered through the school or via BASS.

Staffing 

Sarah Kroemer LA 10 is now on maternity leave and Natalie Brook is replacing her for the rest of the year.

Michelle Harous will now be increasing her time and working in LA 12 on Wednesday and LA 1 Friday replacing Natalie.
