Year 1/2 Report

Bundoora Park Excursion

This term,  students in Year 1/2  have been learning about history, and exploring what life was like in the past. On Wednesday the 24th of August, the Year 1/2 students went on an excursion to Bundoora Park Farm where they were able to step back in time and explore the history of the area, the progression in technology and what life was like for a child living on a farm in the early 20th century.

First, the students explored an old cottage built in the late 1800s. They were asked to go on a scavenger hunt to find some items around the house and play some games that kids played in the ‘olden days’. Then, the students were able to step back in time and experience what a classroom was like. The strict teacher, Ms Featherbottom instructed the males and female students to sit separately at desks and they had to write with ink. Students also learnt about the forms of communication and printing used in the past, including using ink stamps to write their initials. Finally, students all went on a safari bus tour around the wildlife reserve and saw emus and kangaroos and other Australian wildlife.

It was an amazing excursion and we all had lots of fun learning about the past.

Thank you to all the teachers and parents who supported with the excursion.
