Learning Specialist Report
NAPLAN
This week, students who participated in the NAPLAN assessments earlier this year received their NAPLAN reports. There is so much to be proud of for everyone who participated and, as a school, we have some very impressive achievements. Whilst the NAPLAN data itself holds a limited influence on our day to day, it does provide a nice pulse check on our improvement journey - which is going very well. Our collective efforts are paying off.
Parent Helpers
At Aberfeldie Primary, we greatly appreciate parents & community members who assist with the implementation of the school’s priorities, including volunteering on sport days, fundraising events, excursions & camps. We wish to expand this involvement by inviting parents and carers to volunteer as classroom helpers in the Foundation to Year 2 area. Currently we are seeking parents to assist and be involved in our early years literacy program. If this is of interest to you, please complete the following steps below:
Process for becoming a parent helper in the classroom:
- Supply the office with a Working with Childrens Check (WWCC)
- Sign the Code of Conduct agreement at the office
- Read through the 2022 Aberfeldie Parent Helper Course here.
- Fill in the Parent Helper Expression of Interest Form.
Once you have completed the requirements, please supply the classroom teacher/s with the days and times that you are available for helping via Seesaw, email or face-to-face. The classroom teacher will then create a schedule that is equitable for parents and supportive of student learning. Any questions about parent helping can be directed to the classroom teacher or a member of the leadership team.
Thank you for supporting our learning community!
2023 Foundation Transition
It is hard to believe but we have already come to the time of the year that we start to plan for 2023. We have already begun to welcome our 2023 Foundation students with transition beginning last week. The 2023 Foundation students came to APS last week to visit the Foundation classrooms for a familiarisation session. This was an opportunity for the students to be introduced to the school setting, the Foundation classrooms, and to participate in play-based activities with other children that will be in their year level. It was great to meet our future Foundation students, and we can't wait to welcome them again in Term 4 for Orientation.
If your family is planning a change in 2023, or if you haven’t enrolled for 2023 and plan to, please let the office know as soon as you can.
