Principal's Report

Holidays Around the Corner

In a little over one week now, we will be taking our final mid-semester break for 2022. It has been an extremely solid term for everyone across our community, with the challenges of balancing an almost normal life with the lingering interruptions of the (hopefully) final stages of the pandemic. As we strive and push ourselves closer to 'normal', we are inevitably going to experience some fatigue. Which is exactly what many students, staff and parents have experienced, none more-so than our students, who have been trying their absolute best throughout the term. We trust that the upcoming holiday break is exactly that - a restful break.

Bitter Sweet Farewell

As the end of term three rolls around, we will be saying farewell to one of Aberfeldie's finest teachers and leaders. Ms. Michelle, teacher of 1/2B, will be on leave from next term.

Whilst we are sad that Michelle will not be with us next term, as her ongoing contribution to APS is nothing short of exceptional, we wish her all the best for the remainder of the year. Through Michelle’s leadership, all students have received the utmost care and support to achieve success. Thanks to the tremendous work of Michelle, together with all students in 1/2B, we know that everyone is well and truly set for a strong end to the year.

Despite the staff shortages we are all hearing about across the country for teachers, we have been able to appoint a wonderful teacher who will be introduced to our community early next week.

Excursions are back with a bang!

A number of wonderful excursions have been happening across the last few weeks. It has been wonderful to see all the smiling faces boarding the bus and then representing our school beautifully whilst out and about. Thanks to all of our parent helper volunteers, we couldn't do it without you. Also, well done to the teaching teams who have worked to prepare and plan such valuable learning experiences.

Father's Day Breakfast

What a great turnout we had for our first Father's Day breakfast for some time. Hosted by the Fathering Project and headed up by Nick Field and Scotty, everyone enjoyed delicious panini supplied by the Salumeria. Our special guest, Brock McClean, did not disappoint, sharing some insightful stories and wisdom gained from his life of being an elite athlete and father of two. Stay tuned for the upcoming Term Four Fathering Project event - looking like an evening of barefoot bowls.

All dads and father figures are encouraged to become an online member of the Aberfeldie Fathering Project group. You get lots of great tips and information about parenting, the significant role of fathers and even a few good dad jokes. Try the QR code below, if this does not work, email Scotty on scott.burns@education.vic.gov.au

Looking ahead to Term 4

We are looking forward to a wonderful Term Four. So many things happening, both social and school related. Continue to stay tuned through Compass and this newsletter or feel free to contact your child's teacher, or the office, to get clarification on anything coming up. We cannot wait to jump into another successful term to conclude 2022.

Take care and enjoy a marvellous break with family and friends!
