School Chaplaincy

The school’s Chaplain is an integral member of the Student Services team. Their role is to build student resilience and well-being by engaging students in structured activities and programs or by mentoring individual students. They implement confidential, non-judgemental programs that form part of the College’s pastoral care/student well-being strategy.

Chris Urschitz started with the College at the beginning of the term and has been busy learning about the school and getting to know the students.

Hi there,
With these short few lines I would like to thank the College for allowing me to serve at this outstanding College and for welcoming me to the team.
My name is Chris U. and together with my family we recently moved into the Denmark area.
In the past 11 years I have been serving as a School Chaplain with YouthCARE in the northern suburbs of Perth and in Mandurah.
Born in Papua New Guinea (where I have experienced 7 years of Boarding School myself). I finished my schooling and Cabinet Maker Apprenticeship in Salzburg, Austria then studied further in Germany, travelled to Africa and America and ended up in Australia, where my family and I are now running Boat Harbour Camp in Parryville.
I am very passionate about GROWING, empowering, and encouraging people in their journey through life. I believe once a person discovers their VIP - Value, Identity, and Purpose; life becomes a lot more meaningful, enjoyable and resilient.
I like what Mark Twain once said: “These are the 2 most important days of life: The day you were born and the day you figure out why.”
In my two days per week here at the College I want to help and serve to the best of this cause. I hope to connect with and to walk alongside our students. Inspire, encourage and empower them on their journey.
Please feel free to contact me through email, phone or face to face here at the College. I am always on site on Wednesdays and Thursdays and welcome conversations.

NAIDOC activities at the College

Friday 12th August

NAIDOC celebrations are held to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. Our Indigenous students have been actively involved with the preparation for the day’s events, which include sampling traditional food and playing culturally significant games.

All students will get an opportunity to learn about remarkable First Nations people who have influenced the arts, sports, science and Indigenous civil rights. Portraits will be on display in the dining room foyer.

Leading up to the event, Year 10 HASS students have been examining significant events in our Indigenous history. Recognising and celebrating the diversity in our student group contributes to creating a culture of awareness and inclusivity.
