MAV student games day

We were lucky enough to participate in MAV’s annual Student Games Day which was held at Williamstown High School on Thursday the 15th of August. Our team consisted of ourselves, Chloe Jolme and Tain Corless. It was a great opportunity to meet other like minded (math) people and test our math prowess against theirs. The competition was friendly, and we left with more friends than when we had arrived. The questions challenged and stretched our thinking. From worded puzzles to ‘Make 24’ games, Hexagon races to Ken-Ken’s and a relay competition, we successfully finished 32nd out of the 64 schools. It goes without saying that a big shout-out is needed to Miss Lobriza who was our mentor throughout the entire day; thank you for taking us to such an incredible event! Also, we’d like to thank Mrs Carolan for being the driving force behind the more practical side of getting a Wantirna representation at the competition. The Games Day was an undeniable success and an experience that we all loved!!

On Wednesday the 28th of August, Leon, Tulio, Elijah H and I went with Miss Lobriza to MAV’S annual Student Games Day hosted by PEGS (Penleigh & Essendon Grammar) in Kelior East. The day consisted of problem-solving questions, puzzle questions and an assortment of games. Overall, we came 57th out of 98 schools. It was an amazing day despite the rain and the cold weather. It challenged all our brains and really pushed us to the limit.
