We are now calling for expressions of interest for the upcoming NT Tour for 2020. Departure dates are Saturday 20th June until Saturday 4th July. Parents and students interested can refer to the information outlined in the below. Please be advised that final payment prices are dependent on the number of students going. Parents wishing to pay can do so via the payment plan on Compass. Please be advised that the original letter sent out to students included the incorrect year, however the dates remain correct. Our apologies for the oversight. This has been amended in the attached letter.

Expressions of interest for the Year 11 Northern

Territory Tour 2020

Wantirna College is pleased to announce that it will once again be offering 2020 Year 11 students the chance to join the annual Northern Territory Tour. The Tour will commence on Saturday 20th June and return 15 days later on Saturday 4th July. The Tour will take place during the last week of Term 2 and the first week of the school holidays.

The Tour provides students with a wonderful opportunity to experience the wonders of the Australian Outback. Highlights of the Tour include: Uluru, Kings Canyon, Katherine Gorge, jumping crocodiles, camel rides, bush tucker tour, Darwin Mindil Beach Market, Litchfield National Park and river cruises.

Based on the 2019 cost, the Tour has an estimated total cost of $2900-3200. Price is subject to change depending on student numbers and final costs of airfares.

This cost includes:

• Coach travel
• Meals
• Accommodation
• Entrance to all tourist attractions
• Return flight to Melbourne
• Camp hoodie, shirt and hat
• Compulsory travel insurance

Accommodation is twin-share, in canvas tents. All meals are included, except meals between Melbourne and Uluru during the express overnight travel.

There will be a Parent Information Evening in May 2020 to answer any questions. Details for this event will be available on Compass closer to the date.

Determination of Places

In the event of there being more students interested in the tour than places available, a randomised process will take place to determine who will be offered a seat on the tour. Those students who were not successful will be offered a place on the waiting list and their deposit money will be refunded. The order of the waiting list will be determined by a random draw, and this list will be published.

Northern Territory Tour 2019 - 2020 Payment Details

This Tour is an extra-curricular activity and is therefore not compulsory.

College Council advises that parents should prioritise the payment of the Essential Curriculum and Service items before considering enrolling their child in extra-curricular events with charges. In order to ensure Wantirna College can continue to offer the rich programs offered currently, College Council actively promotes the payment of the Compulsory Essential Curriculum and Service Items, as outlined on the College Fees and Charges sheet, either via payment in full or through an agreed payment plan.

Payment plans need to be  agreed to, in advance with our Business Manager, Mr. Peter Cameron or Nerilee Fletcher and payments made by the due dates.

Airline seats are booked early, so to confirm the booking at the best possible price, we require a non-refundable deposit payment of $600 by Friday, 25th October. The final cost of the Tour will be confirmed once student numbers are established.

All payments can be made on Compass. There will be three compass events, one for the deposit, one for the next three payments and a third, which will be made available to parents in May 2020, once the total amount has been finalised.

Please note that all payments MUST be finalised by Thursday 14th May 2020.
