Year 12 Results & Change of Preferences - IB

Results for IB students will be available to students on Friday 3 January.  I will be available during this period. You will receive a detailed email about this shortly.

Students applying for courses in Victoria through VTAC will be able to login to the website at http://www.vtac.edu.au/ from when you receive your results until 4pm the next day (Saturday 4 January) to make changes to preferences.  Institutions will also have support available on that day to assist students.  The table (attached below) shows the specific IB support available at a number of Victorian tertiary institutions and other states.  We have been advised that It would be better to ring institutions rather than email to ensure a quick response. Given the small turn- around time for you to change your preferences, if you wish to do so, I recommend you have a plan prepared in advance to save you some time during this busy period.

A few important things to note:

Monash University: Have notified us that there will be a tailored presentation for IB students at the Caulfield campus (on 13 December @ 2.30 pm) and they recommend that you attend to speak to faculty staff.

RMIT: The Study @ RMIT Team will be open and available to help IB students on 3 January

however they are NOT OPEN on Saturday 4 January.

Deakin: They will be supporting IB students on 3 January via their hotline 1800 693 888.

Remember there is the full list of COP details that are non-IB specific but you can still attend any of these information sessions (generally from Thursday 12 December to Friday 20 December) if you have specific questions about your course preference at each institution.

New Course at Latrobe University

Bachelor of Humanities, Innovation and Technology (3 yrs)

Gain the skills you need to become a future leader and guide the progress of society. Technological innovation is transforming the way we live. As a result, humanities and social science disciplines are emerging as a crucial element in understanding where technology is taking us and what our human future will look like.

As a student of this course, you'll study a combination of humanities, business and STEM subjects. This will help you develop the knowledge you need to respond to urgent questions about ethics, inequality and sustainability brought about by disruptive technologies. You'll be introduced to a broad range of innovative topics including environmental science, the science fiction imagination, cyber law and policy, and the philosophy of virtual reality.

You'll be equipped with in-demand skills like innovative thinking, creative problem-solving and critical analysis. Through a series of specially designed core subjects, you'll also have the opportunity to tie your studies together by developing a portfolio of work to present to future employers.

New Bachelor of Space Science

Did you know that space is a $495 billion dollar industry? Australia currently does not have sufficient skilled professionals to meet this need.  In response to this, RMIT will launch the Bachelor of Space Science for the February 2020 intake.

This degree encompasses RMIT’s strong space industry and space agency partnerships with government and industry, including connections with Boeing, the Department of Defence and NASA.  This course is a unique mix of physics, engineering, geospatial science, mathematics, and specialised space studies. During your studies, you'll have the opportunity to undertake a 12 week industry placement so you can immerse yourself in the world of space.

Further information can be found at Bachelor of Space Science
