Cross Country Carnival
Thursday 4th May
Dear parents/Caregivers,
The Newlands Cross Country Carnival will be taking place next term on Thursday 4th May (Thursday 11th May back-up day). This year the event will take place at Jackson Reserve in Coburg from 10am -2:45pm. Students must come to school in the morning as usual. Then, class teachers, staff members and students will walk together to the location at 9am.
Students must wear their house colours. A hat/sunscreen/rain jacket are recommended depending on weather condition. Spiked footwear is not permitted. Please ensure your children bring a small bag with lunch box, snacks, and bottle of water. It is recommended your children sleep a minimum of 9 or 10 hours the night before and have a nutritious breakfast before coming to school. This will help them have enough energy to perform at their best!
Prep and Year 1 students will walk with their teachers to Edgars Creek Parkland (next to Athletic track) in the morning, where they will be cheering on our older ones and participating in games and activities. At 12pm, the rest of students will walk with their class group and teachers to the Athletic Track.
The program is as follows:
All races start and finish at the Athletic Track. Years 4, 5 and 6 racecourses include a run section in Edgars Creek Parkland (outside of Athletic Track).
Students who come 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Grades 4, 5 and 6 will be representing Newlands Primary School at the SSV Coburg District Cross-Country Championships on Wednesday 18th May.
Parents and caregivers are invited to come along and cheer on our students! There will be a coffee cart coming to the venue. This is not provided by the school; it is an independent source and we take no responsibility for food allergies and costing.
We require parent volunteers to help during hours from 10am-12pm and 1pm-1.50pm.
