2023 Australian Gymnastics Championships

We are on the countdown to Gymnastics Australia staging the 2023 Australian Gymnastics Championships at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre. We are extremely proud to have Isabella McDonnell-Baum (Senior International) and Lindsay Webb (WAG Level 9) representing Queensland and ready to rise to the challenge. A strong squad of Queensland athletes will compete amongst Australia’s best gymnasts vying for the title of 2023 Australian Champion.

The event will host a plethora of gymnastics action, showcasing an abundant pool of talent. Participants and spectators will be amazed by the standard of competition and immersed in an experience like never before. CC Sport and the Clayfield College community know the girls are ready to impress and we wish them all the best for the Championships. We look forward to celebrating your performances!

2023 Swimming Australia Junior Dolphins

It’s back-to-back for Tiana Kritzinger (Old Collegian 2022), one of 18 Queenslanders named in the Australian Junior Dolphins team to compete at the 2023 World Junior Championships in Netanya, Israel from the 4 - 9 September.

Athletes were selected from their outstanding results at the recent Australian Age & Open Championships.

This tour provides athletes, coaches and team staff with the opportunity to learn, develop, compete, and hone the skills required to successfully transition into the senior team.

The team will depart for Staging Camp in Paphos, Cyprus on the 25 August before landing in Israel for the World Championships.

We congratulate Tiana on her amazing achievement and look forward to watching you compete on the world stage.

Primary Sport

Last Wednesday, the Andrews Cup Touch Football and Tennis competitions were held after weeks of preparation and training. Despite the threat of rain, both events proceeded with minimal interruptions. The Andrews Cup Touch Football team, led by Mia Palmer Primary Sports Captain, performed admirably throughout the day, drawing several games and losing narrowly in many others by only one try. The team, which included two Year 4 students who played beyond their age group, placed 7th in B-Division.

Meanwhile, Clayfield College was well-represented at the Andrews Cup Tennis competition, with teams competing in all divisions except one. The D-Grade Team of Isabella Beamish-Garstang, Selena Sun, and Zara Sinha, in particular, distinguished themselves by winning the 3rd place pennant and ribbons. The teams were well-prepared and supported by Head Coach Matt Limpus and his coaching team at Lifetime Tennis.

On the day, Stella Gamble served as the Andrews Cup Tennis Captain for Clayfield College, accepting the pennant and recognizing her teammates' contributions throughout the event. Overall, congratulations and well done to all the participants for their hard work and achievements.

Looking Ahead

In the coming weeks our Primary Students Years 2 – 6 who have been training hard will be involved in Britton Shield and Andrews Cup Cross Country events.

Additionally, the students will also have the options of signing up for Andrews Cup Netball, Football (Soccer), Athletics and Britton Shield Football (Soccer).
