Year 12 Retreat

At the beginning of the week our Year 12 students attended their Retreat. The students were broken up into smaller groups and attended one of four venues. Retreats aim to assist students in recognising the importance of holistic development and give further understanding to the ideal of fullness of life. Activities are designed to open students to their spiritual dimension as well as fostering a sense of community and a heightened awareness of their own giftedness and that of others. The Year 12 Retreat is seen as a special time:

  • To provide an opportunity for an experiential component of faith development that can foster a closer relationship with God.
  • To facilitate a time of reflection and personal searching in an environment of challenge.
  • To facilitate sharing and a greater intimacy in relationships between students, their peers and staff.
  • To foster a greater understanding of what it means to be a man today.

We take students away on a retreat of this kind to set aside time to allow our young people to reflect, to share and to wonder. To maximise the value of the experience, we ask students to be very open and honest; very still, respectful and trusting. Thanks to all staff who facilitated this experience for Year 12 students.

New College Website

We are pleased to announce that the College has a new website. In an increasingly competitive educational landscape, Mazenod College must maintain its position as the school of choice. To achieve this goal, Mazenod requires a fast, intuitive, modern, device-agnostic website, built according to the latest in user experience and website design best practices. After meeting with several companies, Digistorm was selected as the provider.

The new website will provide functionality for the management of key enrolment events (such as tours and open days), act as the primary source for lead generation, and support an end to-end online enrolments platform that integrates with Mazenod's existing school management system. Additionally, the website will bring Mazenod's school software full-circle and work to streamline communication. Listed below are the key outcomes.

  • Showcase Mazenod College's respected brand and reputation as an innovative leader in boys' education.
  • Achieve higher levels of online enquiries, enrolment applications, and engagement.
  • Attract prospective families using high quality videos and pictures of our campus and students.
  • Provide highly personalised content experiences for target audiences.
  • Enable the Mazenod team to manage website content updates with ease.
  • Seamlessly integrate with Mazenod's existing software systems to streamline processes.

ACC Swimming

Next Wednesday our swimming team will compete in the ACC Swimming Championship at the Melbourne Aquatic Centre. Our squad have done a great job in preparing for the competition. We would like to acknowledge all students, particularly Year 12 students, for years of dedication to the sport and wish the team well on the day.

Mission Action Day

Our student leaders continue to prepare for the last day of Term 1, April 6, Mission Action Day 2023. As well as raising funds, the purpose of the day is to create awareness of the resources that are inequitably shared on a global scale. The funds raised for the Oblate Missions (MAMI – Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate) provide communities with access to essential services and resources. Next Tuesday will commence with the Mission Action Day Concert in the Provence Centre. the aim of the night is to raise funds for the Missions and entertain those in attendance. Good luck to everyone on the night, especially the Year 7s and 8s performing for the first time.

Thank you!

Thank you for everything you have done this term to keep Mazenod a vibrant community, and to provide your son with opportunities to participate in camps and co-curricular activities they have missed over the past three years. I hope you have a well-deserved holiday break, and a blessed and happy Easter period with your family and friends.

All the best,
