St Mel’s Parish Prayer

God our Father,

Bless our Parish so that we may love you more. Encircle our families with your loving care.  Help parents to be good examples to their children and our youth to grow in strength as good Christians.

To the sick, grant health.

To the aged, bring serenity and to those in sorrow, joy.

May we grow stronger in faith and may our love for one another become

 deeper in our daily living.

Amen

Alleluia He is Alive

We pray…

Lord, let your face shine on us.

God has thus brought to fulfilment ... that his Christ would suffer. Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away. Acts 3

Peter is still preaching to the people, and to us, to help us believe that the suffering of Jesus is part of God's plan to save us.

The Risen Jesus meets the two discouraged disciples on the road, from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They felt their hopes were dashed. Jesus opened the scriptures to them, to help them understand. And, they recognized him in the breaking of bread, for brokenness was no longer a scandal for them. And, they remembered that their hearts were burning within them as they heard him put it together for them.

Today, we can ask for that gift of understanding affection for the relationship of new life Jesus wants to offer us.

Lord Jesus, open the Scriptures to us; make our hearts burn while you speak to us.
