In & Out of the Classroom

Sora

We're excited to launch Sora at St Virgil's! Sora is an audiobook and ebook platform which is accessed from a webpage or Apple App. Available to all students from Kindergarten to Year 11, books are part of a shared collection across Australia. Students are uploaded to Sora by Year, allowing only age-appropriate books to be accessed.

Students have been busy in the library with Mrs Sutton and Mrs Young learning how to use the platform and information has been sent by EdSmart for parents of students in Year 3-11 - just in time for the Easter break! Early Years will have their details confirmed in the next month.

Prep and Year 1 Excursion

Prep and Year 1 classes travelled to Austins Ferry on Friday and were lucky enough to explore the newly charred earth after cool burning, led by volunteer fire crews from Claremont, Bridgewater and Wellington. The firefighters have been in attendance in the past month to perform cool burning to reduce the fuel load without over impacting wildlife.

The boys also shared a carrot fresh from the patch as they visited Bushy on their way through the campus.

Handball Competition

Students took part in an almighty handball face-off at the Senior School on Monday. Hopkin’s Horrors faced the Oorangutans first, then the Free Ballers. The Year 11s took the win and shared in an Easter basket prize!

Lego Club

The Co-curricular Lego Club at Austins Ferry has been busy making ANZAC Day creations in the past week. Open to students in Year 7-11, the group has met throughout Term 1 to challenge and support each other.

Easter Bunny Visit

Prep had a special visitor today! Can anyone guess who?
