Seeking Host Families for French Students

Frankston High School has ten French students arriving from our sister school Lycee Jean Zay for seven weeks for their annual visit to our school.

They arrive on Sunday 3 July and depart on Sunday 21 August 2016.

We encourage all Frankston High School students to consider hosting one of our French visitors during one of the following periods:

There will be three host block dates to choose from:

*Sunday 3 July-Sunday 17 July

  (2 weeks)

*Sunday 17 July- Sunday 7 August

  (3 weeks)

*Sunday 7 August-Sunday 21 August

  (2 weeks)

Please indicate preferences on the French Host Family form attached.

The French students are 16-17 years old and will attend Year 10 or Year 11 classes with their own timetable.  They do not need their own room and lockers and uniforms are supplied.

Past host families have found the cultural experience rewarding, enjoyable and has assisted with the study of the French language.

We will be relying on the generosity of host families to provide food and accommodation.

Attached is a French Host Family form to complete and return to the 7-10 Campus or Senior Campus Office.  A Working with Children Check information form is included (if applicable).

Please contact Anne Thomson on 0409 835 541 or email athomso@fhs.vic.edu.au for further information.

Wall of Kindness

We are writing to seek your support for the ‘Wall of Kindness’ hosted by Frankston City Council.  Donations of coats are made to shield our vulnerable and homeless community members during winter.

The first wall appeared in Mashad, with a few hooks and hangers with the quote “if you don’t need it, leave it. If you need it, take it.”

Frankston High School is one of three schools as a drop-off point for donated coats for the ‘Wall of Kindness.’

During these holidays it would be appreciated if you could check your clothing and see if you have any coats that you could donate for the 'Wall of Kindness.’  You will able to drop-off your generous donations at the 7-10 Campus office during the first week of Term 3:  11-15 July.

The coats that you donate will be accessible to the homeless community at a one to three day ‘Wall of Kindness’ event in Frankston this winter.

This project is being coordinated by the Year 9 Leadership class, and we really hope that you can be involved.

Regards, LEAD class 2016

Crossing The Road

REMINDER TO BUS TRAVELLERS – CROSSING THE ROAD

All students who travel to and from school via the public buses are reminded to only use the black and white ‘zebra crossings’ on Towerhill Road and Foot Street to get to and from bus stops, before and after school.

Traffic is extremely congested on the streets before and after school.  It is not safe for students to cross the roads anywhere but the zebra crossings at any time, but especially before and after school.  Parents are asked to discuss with their children, the importance of this matter.
