Pastoral Bulletin

Welcome to Week 4 of Term 2 2023

General School News

  • Congratulations to all students who participated in the TCS Cross Country on Tuesday. Fantastic result for the College winning the carnival. Good luck to all those competing at the Peninsula level in the coming weeks.
  • A reminder that all students must wear the correct sports shoes with their sports uniforms. Students are NOT permitted to wear converse, vans or other flat soled skate shoes. These shoes do not provide adequate support for students participating in sporting activities and are not part of the College uniform.
  • Open Night will take place this coming Thursday May 11 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm. We look forward to welcoming all current and prospective families and students to the College.
  • House Assembly will occur next Tuesday in period 2. ALL STUDENTS are expected to be in House uniform for this occasion.

Regards,

Year 7

  • A reminder to all students that it is important to respect other people's personal property. Taking others' property as a joke when you have been told not to is unacceptable. This includes playing with or attempting to guess lock codes on lockers that do not belong to you. Please show respect for others belongings in the College community.

Year 8

  • Despite the wet weather it was wonderful to see so many of our students challenging themselves and developing new relationships on camp. Thank you to all that attended and made it such a success!

Year 9

  • A reminder to all students that mobile phones should be in your lockers during school hours. You are able to access them at your locker during  the first 10 minutes of each break.
  • During Social Emotional Learning (SEL) this week, students learnt about 2 study strategies - Spaced Repetition and the Pomodoro technique. These are 2 simple strategies they can use to support their studies and get organised for the assessment season.
    • Space repetition: reviewing and recalling information at purposefully spaced intervals (e.g. Every 3-7 days students re-read class notes.)
    • Pomodoro technique: focus and work on 1 task for a set amount of time before taking a purposeful break, then restarting. (e.g. 20 mins assessment research, 10 mins break, 20mins assessment writing)

Year 10

  • Grit was the focus of last week’s SEL lesson.  Grit can be defined as demonstrating persistence and resilience.  It is an essential component that is often associated with success.  Students were encouraged to reflect upon the importance of demonstrating grit in attempting to achieve their goals.

Year 11

  • Should your student need a new House shirt, please ensure they visit the uniform shop.
  • An email was sent to all students to volunteer as ushers for our Open Night; students are to email me if interested as it is another opportunity to show leadership in our Community.

Year 12

  • I am looking forward to the Year 12 students' contribution to Open Day next Thursday. I know that many are involved in preparing food, music presentations, subject displays and ushering. It is affirming to see their community spirit in action.
