It was wonderful to see so many parents at our recent Parent Student Teacher evening.  Evenings such as these are an ideal opportunity for the three key stakeholders (student, teacher, parents), in a student’s education, to come together to discuss progress, strengths, weaknesses and to move forward positively on the journey of learning.  Parents play a vital role in the education of their child and this is recognised and appreciated by all teachers at St Mary’s – we look forward to our continued collaboration.

NAPLAN testing – Years 7 and 9

In Week 4 all Year 7s and 9s will be sitting NAPLAN Online. Students have their skills assessed in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar), and Numeracy.  The NAPLAN Online test for 2021 will be held on the mornings of Tuesday 11th, Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th May 2021. Students will be in their timetabled lessons when not completing NAPLAN on these days.  Please ensure your child is available and punctual on these days.

The equipment needed is as follows:

  • Charged Laptop with NAP Locked Down Browser downloaded (this has been done)
  • 2B OR HB PENCIL
  • Headphones (not Bluetooth)

Any students who are absent during any of the tests will be required to catch them up during this week.  Catch up sessions will run each afternoon at the school’s convenience. Individual reports will be mailed out during Term 3, as they become available.

SETPlan interviews

All Year 10 students and their parents are required to complete SETPlan interviews, with Ms Ambrose, prior to Senior. Students and their parents will be provided opportunity to discuss pathways at those interviews; we encourage all Year 10 parents to participate in these interviews. They will be held later in Term 2 and Term 3 – dates and times to be advised. The booking system will be the same one used for PST interviews.
