CHS  State swimming

NSW CHS (Combined High Schools) Sports Association provides opportunities for secondary students to participate in competitive sport at the state level and above.

Recently, we had five students qualify for CHS swimming events held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre with some great results:

In Year 11 Renaldo Ionita competed individually in the following championship events:  

100m freestyle 

100m breaststroke and 

100m butterfly

A very tough competition competing against other elite swimmers. Congratulations to Renaldo for achieving 12th place in breaststroke!

In Year 7 Ilayda Basak, Tijana Bozovic, Rachelle Gholam, Ghena Mahdi  competed in the 12 years girls 4 x 50m freestyle relay.

Congratulations Renaldo, Tijana, Ilayda, Rachelle and Ghena - such a wonderful achievement!

Cross Country

This year Cecil Hills High School ran a school cross country carnival for the first time in a very long time! This event was held earlier this month.

With a new track set out and the sun shining, our students took on the 1km loop track at the back of the school. While certain age groups were running, students in the other age groups were engaged in various activities run by the House Leadership team and teachers.  These events included corn hole, tug-o-war, jenga, volleyball, and basketball - keeping the students engaged and active.

The day was a great success, made possible by the enthusiasm of the students and the wonderful team spirit shown by the teachers in keeping students active, on-task, and motivated to complete the run and the various activities. We look forward to making the day bigger and better in 2022.

Zone Cross Country

Cecil Hills High School took a team of 68 eager athletes to Fairfield Showground to compete in the zone cross country championships for 2021. After walking the course, our athletes began preparing for the day's event with stretching, pump-up music and visualisation.  The top 10 athletes in each age group would progress onto the Regional Championships to be held later in the year.

For Cecil, the day was an absolute success. Not only did we take out the title of champion school, but we also had many students make the top 10 and progress to regionals as well as many athletes winning their age group and were crowned zone age champions.
