Staff spotlight

At Ceci Hills High School, we have some of the smartest and supportive people on our team -  but in addition, our staff members have a wide array of hobbies, talents, and interests that make them truly unique.

Welcome to the first of our Staff Spotlight series. This Q&A aims to introduce our community to the clever, creative and talented Cecil team.

Tell us your name and how long you have been at Cecil

My name is Georgia Brook and I've been at Cecil since the beginning of 2020.

How long have you been teaching and what subjects do you teach?

I have been teaching for 5 years and am currently teaching Biology and Junior Science. I have previously taught some Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth and Environmental Science.

Your roles and what they entail

I am a Science teacher so I plan engaging and informative lessons and experiments, making sure that the laboratory is always safe.

What school were you previously at and what did you teach?

I was at Matraville Sports High School before Cecil and taught junior Science and Mathematics and some senior Science and Mathematics.

Where did you go to school?

I went to South Sydney High School for the entirety of my high school education and then studied Microbiology and Education at University of Technology Sydney and UNSW Australia.

What do you like to do when you aren't working?

I enjoy figure skating, playing the clarinet, hiking and camping.

What's a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I taught in the UK for 2 years.

How do you define success?

I see success holistically. You need to be happy, find a work-life balance and find ways to continue to push yourself.

What advice can you give students?

At the moment high school is your whole world. Pick subjects that you enjoy and can see yourselves using when you leave school. Savour your time here as these are times you will look back on in years to come.
