Chess Tournament

Cecil Hills High School fiercely competed in the local heat of the Inter-school Chess Tournament at Canley Vale Public School on 3 May 2021. Our team of students from Year 7 and Year 11 proudly participated and represented our school, taking 2nd place overall in their division!

In the perspective of a beginner, I could see that the atmosphere is absolutely thrilling and harmonious. My mindset wasn’t necessarily to win but to try my very best!  In the end, not only did I win more games than I anticipated but I made many new friends along the way and created an everlasting bond with my team. Chess truly is a fun and addictive game that gets you hooked as soon you realised you checkmated your opponent. That drive kept all of us students to continue the fierce competition but overall have fun!  Even the staff and students from other schools have been so helpful and welcoming, retaining such a positive and comfortable environment.

I can say proudly on behalf of our Chess Club, that we are now all exhilarated and ready to train for future heats and the Semi-Finals!
