We are very excited to announce that the Year 7 Student Councillors for 2021 are Areeb Qureshi and Ruby Pereira. The Secondary Student Council seeks to work as a link between the student body and the College community, to serve as a voice for their fellow peers and raise their issues in addition to fostering school spirit.

We would like to thank all of the Year 7 students who showed great courage in applying for the Student Councillor positions, and though we were not able to give a position to each student, we were still so impressed by the quality of the applications and the unique attributes possessed by each student. Please join us in congratulating Areeb and Ruby, and we wish them luck in taking their first steps as leaders within the school.

Inter-House Cross Country

Article by Logan Cole - Year 9 Journalism Class

On a humid day on April 28th, the students of the College competed in the inter-house cross-country competition.

The Primary School and Secondary School ran at different times and each year group also ran separately. The top runners from each year group will be selected to represent the school in the Inter-school Cross Country competition.

As I did not run, I was on the sidelines cheering my fellow Year 9s as they ran their 4kms. As I watched, I was pleasantly surprised to see my year group giving their all. I did not see many of them walking and I was impressed with their full participation.

The teachers were very supportive as well, with Mr Davies and Mr O’Malley playing uplifting music and shouting encouragement as students ran past them. Even Mr Elder ran! He ran with a few of the year groups, and I’m sure they found that extremely rewarding. Mrs Watson also ran with the Year 9s and I know my year group really enjoyed her support.

We are excited to announce that from Week 5, students and staff will be able to enjoy Subway lunches at The King’s College.  This is a new fundraising initiative brought about by The King’s College Student Council. At this stage, orders will only be available for Thursdays, but if this proves to be popular it may be expanded to 2 days a week.

Orders can be made via Qkr! by 8am Wednesday.  Click to download the QkR! By Mastercard app for Apple or Android.  You can also click here to view an example of what you will expect to see on the QKR app.
