Celebrating Diversity

This week is Harmony Week. It is a time to focus on a celebration of cultural diversity in our multicultural Australia. Within our own small community there are many links to different countries and a range of languages spoken.

In assemblies we acknowledge the First Nations people and particularly the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin nation

Respect is one of our key College values and respect is key to celebrating and understanding our diverse community. Our values have been the key themes during Chapels this term with the students highlighting the importance of living the values, not just acknowledging them.

Leadership

Last week after the student leadership training session, we inducted our College and School Leaders in a ceremony held after school to allow parents to attend. The focus at the assembly was for students to focus on the gift of leadership and to

  • be “service oriented”
  • think about how you can help others
  • reflect on how you might contribute to positive change
  • decide on how you can go the distance
  • decide on how you could inspire others
  • believe in yourself
  • do your best

We congratulate each one of them on the leadership opportunities afforded to them for 2021.

Growth Mindset

In our classes and in our activities we need to be encouraging young people to always have a growth mindset. This means learning from our mistakes and working at correcting and improving what we do. This is what learning is all about.
