Class Captains Semester 1

Our Class Captains for Semester 1 were awarded their badges at assembly this week. Congratulations to these students and I look forward to their contributions to Dunhelen. Our first meeting was very positive, and already some fun ideas have been raised.

Dunhelen House Cross Country

Dunhelen students participated in the House Cross Country on Thursday 11 March. The weather was great, as was the enthusiasm of our students. Well done, Dunhelen!

International Women's Day

Last week, in honor of International Women’s Day, two student leaders and I were invited to a morning tea hosted by the Mayor of Hume, Councillor Joseph Haweil. It was a great morning, with lots of yummy food for Sahez S, Angelique C and me. It was also wonderful to see a former Aitken College student providing the entertainment for the event. Helena R completed Year 12 last year. The highlight, of course, was hearing from inspirational women and how they overcome challenges and hardships to become the inspirational people that they are.

Dunhelen Swimming Carnival

A reminder that on Tuesday 30 March the Dunhelen Swimming carnival will take place at Oak Park. Due to COVID restrictions, visitors will not be allowed to attend. Girls will need to be in a one-piece competitive style swimsuit or will need to be wearing a rash vest. All students will be required to wear a rash vest or House t-shirt when not in the water. Students should also be bringing sunscreen for the day. As always, we are hoping for great participation, in and out of the water, from the House teams.

Parent Article by Michael Grose

I recently came across an article by Michael Grose, a parenting educator, about making parents' jobs redundant. It seems that a lot of this is about raising resilient children and teaching them to be problem solvers.
