Teaching and Learning

Room 5

Last week, Camp Quality visited West Beach PS and put on a puppet show for us to watch. They were hilarious!!!! There was lots of laughing and lots of learning. The puppets told us a bit more about Cancer and the medicine used to fight cancer, called Chemotherapy. We also learned about how someone who has cancer, or who is having Chemotherapy, might be feeling. They also talked about ways we can be a caring friend.

Science News

Rooms 9, 10 and 12 have been doing wonderful work on the solar system and have learnt about terrestrial planets, Jovian planets and all of the elements of the solar system. They are now working on creating their own scaled diagram of the solar system. Their planets are starting to take shape and look pretty fantastic!

Rooms 1-6 have been learning about natural, managed and constructed landscapes. They worked with some buddy classes to put together a video game that included a night and day scene. The older students loved working with the younger students to produce some quality work together. Their plans are sounding very interesting and there is a lot of creative talent going around this neck of the woods!

Mr Kitto's Sport Report

Once again, I am thoroughly impressed with the talent, but more importantly, the determination we see from our students at West Beach in the field of Sport and PE. Last Thursday, we had 3 swimmers represent our school and district at the A grade Metropolitan State Swim Championships. Zane, Zara and Tyson should be incredibly proud of their efforts below:

Zane Rooney- 11 Boys

50m Freestyle: 2nd place and flying at a pace of 33.19

50m Freestyle Relay: 1st Place and NEW STATE RECORD 2:16.44

Zara Dobie- 10 Girls

50m Freestyle Relay: 1st Place, 2:45.62

Tyson Dobie- 13 Boys

50m Freestyle: 5th place, 32.47

50m Freestyle Relay: 4th Place 2:16.47

Congratulations and keep up the fantastic work!
