High School Musical - Thats a Wrap!
It has given me great pleasure to present RSC’s very first Middle School Production!
This production was special for so many reasons. Firstly, the show was made up entirely of year 9 & 10 students. The choreography was created by fellow students but most miraculously this show was put together in just over six weeks!
What an amazing achievement!
As schools are moving toward a more connected and universal approach to education by embracing cross-curricular learning, it is my hope that this production of High School Musical has not only impacted the students and faculties directly involved with the musical, but also positively affected the school at large. I would like to commend all students involved, both on and off stage for their commitment and tenacity during the rehearsal and performance period. I hope each and every student has had the chance to learn a new skill and meet a new friend.
Achieving unity amidst diversity is a challenge at any stage of a person’s life. Yet each of us bring something to the table, to help the others to grow. High School Musical is the essence of this concept. The show takes you back to the adventure and excitement of high school; a place where students are faced with discovering who they are and where they fit in. Often this self-discovery results in cliques. We see this attitude equally displayed by the students and the adults at East High.
To break free from this status quo and achieve togetherness, there has to be one brave enough to withstand the criticism that will inevitably come to them and lead the way. When this occurs and people come together with a common purpose, in spite of their differences, there grows tremendous strength and unity and the impossible becomes possible!
I have been so grateful to be a part of this production and work with such an amazing group of students. A show like this would not be possible without the support of amazing staff members and parents who have donated so much of their time and talent to this production.
I offer a great amount of thanks to each of them and I know how appreciative the cast and crew are of their effort.
