Assistant Principal

With only one week remaining in Term 1, the first term of 2021 has disappeared in what feels like a matter of weeks! It is important for students to be on top of their workload and ensure timely submission of assessment tasks within their classes.  Parents can also assist in this area, by regularly checking Compass Learning Tasks, submission of work and viewing feedback given by teachers. Students should be working towards completing all necessary work as the Easter holiday period approaches.

The last few weeks at Ringwood Secondary College have been extremely busy, with many different events and activities for students to participate in. In addition to the focussed teaching and learning happening in classrooms, students have had the opportunity to be involved in the follow:

  • ‘Who needs a pool anyway’ Swimming Carnival Event
  • Division and Region Swimming
  • Summer Sport
  • House Activities
  • Year 9 Phillip Island Adventure Camp
  • Middle School Production
  • Senior Production auditions and music ensemble practices
  • Year 8 Accelerated Literacy Camp
  • RSC Car Show
  • Excursions
  • Various lunchtime clubs and activities

This vast offering of recent events and activities highlight how Ringwood Secondary College is working to support the RSC community in the Department’s 2021 state-wide priorities of  ‘Happy, active and healthy kids’ and ‘Connected schools’. The students at Ringwood Secondary College are very fortunate to have so many committed school leaders, teachers and support staff! It is great to see students develop and grow academically, personally and socially over their time at the College. As a school community, we will continue to work together, with students and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for all.

With Wednesday 31st March being Parent Teacher Interviews (and a pupil free day), teachers are looking forward to having the opportunity for valuable discussions with parents about student learning and progress. Parents are reminded to book interviews with teachers via Compass and utilise students’ iPad/laptops, along with their MS Teams account to conduct the interviews next week. As always, students are strongly encouraged to participate in these meetings

The rescheduled College photos have now occurred over the last two of weeks and are available for order through Compass.  At this stage, we expect the delivery of photos to be later in Term 2. As we receive updates, we will keep parents and students informed via Compass.

In Term 2, the Attitudes to School Survey (ATSS) will be conducted. The purpose of this survey is to gather data, students' perceptions and experience of school, to support student wellbeing, engagement, school improvement and planning in schools. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience. Also occurring during Term 2 is Education Week. There will be a focus for this celebration in May and further details for both the ATSS and Education Week will be published early in Term 2.

I wish everybody well as we move into the final week of Term 1!
