Year 7 and 8 Celebration Assemblies

On Thursday 1 April, our Year 7 and 8 students participated in the end of term Celebration Assemblies, which were held in our College theatre. These were largely presented by the students themselves, as they shared all the wonderful experiences and achievements of our Junior School students during Term 1 at Cranbourne Secondary College.

We heard about the Athletics Carnival, the Swimming Carnival, the Longest Kick Competition, the STEM International Women’s Day events, the Year 7 Big Day Out, the DET Virtual High Achievers Program, the upcoming School Production Kisses, Multipride, SRC and more. Our College Principal, Mr David Caughey, addressed all students to congratulate them on their wonderful start to Term 1.

A particular highlight was the mesmerising drumming workshop presented by Mr Wes Smith and 7D students. This filled the auditorium with rhythm, a feeling of electricity and a lot of smiles both on stage and in the audience. Thank you Mr Smith and 7D!

To close the assembly, we presented two sets of awards to an impressively large number of students. First, all those who had achieved 100% attendance in Term 1 received a certificate. Finally, the top male and female from each home group received a PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) Award. This was for students who our teachers felt had consistently demonstrated our College respectful, responsible and safe behaviours during Term 1.

Both the Year 7 and Year 8 assemblies were wonderful events, showcasing the many experiences and achievements of our Junior School students. It was also pleasing that so many staff commented on the respectful and mature behaviour of all the students in the audience.

A huge thank you to the many staff and students who helped to make these assemblies so successful and enjoyable.
