Year 7s have a wow of a time at Camp Howqua

Year 7 students returned from their three-day camp at Howqua today. They participated in lots of great activities, supporting and encouraging each other through all challenges. There will be more to come in our next edition of il giornale, but some of the camp highlights were the flying fox and high ropes. The Year 7 students and staff were also fortunate to be visited by St Mel's Parish Priest Fr Peter Taylor who celebrated camp Mass with them and then shared dinner with them. This was the first opportunity that the students have had to be involved in a camp since 2019, and to combine it with a Eucharistic celebration enhanced the spiritual aspect of being in such a beautiful part of Victoria. Here are some comments from the students about what they thought of the camp:

Camp was great. I liked the horse riding because I haven't ridden a horse in years. I got a horse named Nelly which was the name of my dog that passed away so that was nice. - Chelsea N

It was exciting, nerve racking, put me outside my comfort zone and my favourite thing was the flying fox - Lila-Kate N

My favourite thing was the flying fox, soaring like an eagle. - Cohen S

My favourite thing at camp was the high ropes. The cabins were great and the food was great. - Patrick B

My favourite thing was the flying fox. - Noah K

I liked the horse riding and archery.  I didn't get a bull's-eye but it was fun. I liked the horse riding because my horse, Spook, was really fast. - Milli A
