Director of Identity

Mrs Bridget Jenkins

Six weeks ago, we began our Lenten journey with our Ash Wednesday service. During this prayer service we thought deeply about what we can do during Lent and how we can best reflect and put into action what Christian love is about. It was during these last few weeks that all of us gave of ourselves by helping our international neighbours through the Project Compassion fund raising campaign.

Today we will gather together as a faith community to pray the Stations of the Cross and journey with Christ in the events leading to His death and resurrection.

This first part of this journey will be led by Fr Suresh and our House Prefects Harris Lamb, Krystian Jankowiack, William Simaan, and Harry Van Kraanen. Throughout this liturgy we will be invited to be present with Jesus as He joins with His disciples for the Last Supper and is then arrested, condemned and sentenced to death. As He is made to carry His cross to Calvary we will witness the friends and family who were there with Him along the way and focus our prayer around the things we can do to support the people we love throughout the Easter season.

This afternoon we will gather together again as we conclude our first term in very different circumstances to last year. To be able be all together again means we will be able to recognise and celebrate all our challenges and achievements and give thanks for the safe and strong community that we all belong to.

The second part of our liturgy will again be led by Fr Suresh and our College Captain Caerwyn James and Deputies Riley Griggs and Myles Hall. During the final Stations of the Cross we will be present with Jesus as He is crucified, dies and then is taken down from the cross to lay in the arms of His mother, before being buried in a tomb only to rise again as the Saviour of all of us.

Today is a time for prayer and stillness, for courage, hope and ultimately for celebration.
