INQUIRY in Year Three/Four

In Inquiry this term, the students have been exploring the animal world with a particular focus on life cycles. We started the term by differentiating between living and non-living things.

We then moved onto finding out how living things survive. As part of this topic, students chose an animal to research. They found out the diet of the animal, the habitat, which countries it can be found, interesting facts and the animal's life cycle. This information was then presented in a poster format. Some students worked independently whilst others worked with a partner. This was a great activity to improve researching skills, teamwork and presentation.

Our Inquiry sessions continued on with a specific focus on the life cycles of various animals. Students discovered that some species have more stages in their life cycle than others.

Swimming program

Our Grade Three and Four students had a great week of swimming instruction recently at Knox Leisureworks. It was great to see the confidence and ability of the students progress from lesson to lesson. Thanks to the parent helpers that assisted us with supervision of students on the bus and also at the pool.

HARMONY DAY

Last week we celebrated Harmony Day as a whole school. We discussed what Harmony Day is all about, watched some related videos and completed a Harmony Day craft activity. Each student traced around their hand and created a design that was related to their culture or themselves. The students enjoyed sharing various cultures with their classes and showing items specific to their culture. A highlight was watching Ashton play the didgeridoo! Well done for all of your efforts in dressing up for the day.

Thanks Ashton for bringing in your didgeridoo!

Congratulations everyone on your amazing efforts throughout such a busy term. Miss Tilley, Miss Wright and Mrs Rowe are very proud of everyone for continuing to demonstrate our school values of respect, resilience and responsibility.  We have seen so much development in our students socially, academically and emotionally. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a lovely Easter and restful break over the school holidays. We are looking forward to another jam packed and exciting term.
