End of Term 1 in Year Two!
During our Term 1 Inquiry Unit, Paddock to Plate, students have explored how plants and animals are grown for the purpose of food. Students were introduced to the concept of resources and their management, and began to understand how resource use reflects community interdependence. Students had the opportunity to investigate how resources (such as food) from other places can be transported locally to meet their needs. Students also began to explore how seeds can be cared for to grow foods and engage in exciting projects to further illustrate these key understandings.
To celebrate these learnings and to see it in action the Year 1 and Year 2 students spent a fun day at Chesterfield Farm.
All the students had a chance to see cows being milked and watch a working dog show; pat and hold baby animals; feed deer, goats, camels and emus and even go on a tractor ride around the farm.
Harmony Day
On Tuesday 23rd March, USPS celebrated Harmony Day. Students come to school dressed in colours/attire of a country/culture in which they had a personal interest or cultural link. The official colour of Harmony Day is orange and it was great to see some students celebrating Harmony Day by wearing orange.
On this day year 2 students held meaningful discussions about Harmony Day and the importance of including everyone in our multicultural society. Students also completed Harmony Day lessons and activities.
We would like to thank the year 2 families and students for an amazing term.
We wish you a happy Easter and a lovely, restful holiday. We look forward to welcoming students back in Term 2.

Take Home Readers
As part of InitiaLit-2, students have free-choice of short and extended chapter books to take home and read. Year Two students are able to choose two readers from school to take home and read nightly. Students in Year Two are also free to choose books from home to read each night if they wish. We urge families to read daily to help support the learning that is happening within the classroom.
Students who choose their readers on a Monday are required to return them on Friday the same week.
